Has any body on here ever install'd pop out side windows into a Pinto that came with out them from the factory? Is it just a bolt in or a major under takeing? Thanks.
I should be a bolt in if you have all the parts. The hardest part to find are the plastic hindge pieces that snap into pilar post. Without those, the windows will not seal properly. The early cars had a metal spring clip that rivits onto the pilar.
Just as a side note, I don't believe that wagon center side window pops will work, I have toyed with that thought myself. I believe they don't pull back far enough, or mount the same.
Well, actually they can go into the pillar post... but it'll take some work and the help of a dremel mototool. I took out two of those plastic hinge pieces off a '73 wagon and installed them in my '74 Runabout. It wasn't easy, and the inserts are different (I'm thinking it was a year thing) but the wagon's weren't nearly as brittle as the Runabout's. Anyway, they worked for me and the window is saled. Now I need two more...
I have two good hinges with hardware (minus the pillar post screws) from a 77 bobcat wagon if either dick1172762 or blupinto need them. Since blupinto says they work with some modification, I guess they will be of some use to someone!
If dick1172762 doesn't want them I'll take 'em. Thank you. ;D
