Title: Winter is here!
Post by: Starliner on December 21, 2008, 10:58:09 AM
How is your neck of the woods?
It's almost 12 noon and it's 5 degrees with 30 mph winds here near the Motor City.  More than a foot of blowing snow.
The 73 Pinto has performed well through it all.  We will leave the 79 parked for a week or two.
Time to shovel more snow.

See pics...

We are lucky in Southern California.  We can look up in the mountains and see plenty of snow but that is as close as I want to get to it!

Just over a foot and 1/2 of snow in the last couple of days (after the stuff we have been getting since the first of December). Today the wind chill was
-30 below 0. More snow on the way this week but this is Wisconsin  ;D
I will have to post a couple of pictures of my "buried" 78 wagon and 80 Bobcat. All you can see is an outline of what appears to be a car LOL!!!

I had a little under 9 inches of snow and freezing rain at my house this weekend.  This is quite the storm for us as we usually do not get much snow here in Portland.  It has been probably 20 years since we have had this much snow at one time.  The wagons are pretty much parked till the snow melts away ;D

We have had more snow than we had all last year here in WV, clear now but had 5 degrees this morning, wind blowing hard all nite, keeping inside the shop workin on my pinto during my vacation. Good thing about being so cold the wifes not hounding me to work on the house or the yard, now that i think about it i love winter.  ;D

  Hello all,

There's alot of talk covering this on "Off Topic" subject of "Under Ice"
So I thought I'd put my two cents in here, hopefully a funny two cents.

Hows about if you were a "Weather Forcaster" on a Hawaii TV station.
And you had to fill up 15 minutes with the latest stats and forcast.

Well, today was pretty much the same as yesterday, sunny and warm, a light breeze with tempersures in the high 70's.  It appears that tomorrow going to be the same.
I'm going on a seven day vacation, so here's the forcast covering the time I'll be gone.
Same, Same, Same with a slight Chance of afternoon rain showers, same, same, same but maybe afternoon showers, same.

This is John Doe, signing off, see you in a week, etc. etc. etc., dam sun, etc.

  Merry Christmas,,,, Jim at  jimspinto

My Dad lives in McMinnville, and he could not believe the amount of snow there!! Apparently, as you said, the Portland area does not get this typically - and is ill prepared to handle it, to boot.

...and let me add, again of course, having grown up on Lake Erie, this is precisely WHY I love Texas so much. Sure, the Summers are hot, but two days ago is was 72 degrees and we spent the day outdoors working on my wagon. It's great!

as you know, clevelands is more like...

todays weather was cold and cloudy.  tomorrow we will have rain showers turning to ice.  which will then turn to sleet and eventually snow after midnight.  a possible chance of sun in 3 and a half to 4 months.

but back to the subject, not much heavy snow but a lot of wind and a little drifting.  ive only been out to plow 4 times so far and contracts start at 2 inches.  but, we are on the better edge of the snow belt.

We had a lot of snow this winter, so far....

We had about two weeks of off and on heavy and light snowfall. Every day I was going out to brush it off my cars, and every time it was 3-5 inches worth.

The past three days, though, we have had rainfall like crazy and you could swear we haven't had snow at all until you look at the mountains!
