Well I'm at the point at repairing my daughters Mustang II factory air (similar to Pinto?). Everything is there but not working. I know it needs at least a new compressor and dryer, and it needs a new heater core (dash already out) My question is what about installing a whole new unit say one for a street rod..small compressor...they come with everything needed and will hookup to the factory dash vents/defrost. If it were me I wouldn't worry about it but that's me. Anyone tried this route? Thanks

I agree with Bobcat, the old systems worked good when they worked, but the compressors were big and heavy, the systems could be a little complicated, (expansion valves, suction throttling valves, ect) and they were never designed to work with r134a. :cheesy_n:
