hey guys... need some help.. QUICK, trying to get it gutted before weather hits.

How do I get the deck lid open on a '80 pinto without the key.. didn't see an inside lever...

we're guttin this car if anyone needs any pieces....

You could remove the back of the rear seat. Two bolts for each bottom cushion, one bolt on the bottom of each side of the seat back. Then the seat back pulls up and out. Once in, you can undo the 2-3 bolts that hold the latch/lock to the frame and you'll have the lid open. From there you can undo the two bolts for each hinge (the hinges are not removable).

That is assuming that by deck lid, you mean trunk lid...

If you want the rear deck panel, just remove the seats in the same manner, and the deck is just a piece of plywood that will bow a bit in the center and pull out.

All that wasn't necessary when I took the trunk off the car at u-pull. I just removed the back seat, shimmied into the trunk and turned the flat tab that sticks thru the latch from the lock with a pair of pliers.

I didn't know about that tab! Good lookin' out Chuck!

I guess removing the lock/latch isn't necessary (unless you want it, of coarse)!
