Title: Aluminum Pinto Engines !
Post by: Pintosopher on December 12, 2008, 07:32:57 AM
Hello all,
For those of us who really would like to max out a 4 cylinder 2.0, I found a new engine builder in New Zealand, that casts and hops up SOHC And Cosworth YB series engines in Aluminum! Google Smith and Jones Engines and let the drooling begin.
All I know is that you will spend the price of a new vehicle in US dollars but then the currency conversion for NZ to US $ could really cost us.

Oh Santa, yes .. I've been a good boy!

That's not a bad price. It gives you a lightweight platform with a bullet proof bottom and a cylinder head that is just begging for a turbo. One of the sweetest parts is that if you window the block, it is easily repairable. It would be a really nice piece to have in the engine bay of the Turbo Toy Pinto.

OR, as srt has shown, for a measly $90k, get your hands on a 3.0L V-10! :surprised:
Geez, with 10 cylinders and only 3000cc, it must have pistons the size of bottle caps!   That would be a 1.2L four cylinder at the same size!
