Title: Pinto number two
Post by: PintoDriver on December 07, 2008, 03:00:27 PM
To day I went and got my new find. I've been waiting to tell everyone about this one, but I wanted to get her home first...didn't want pintogirl to get it first  ::)
She's a 1980 all glass hatchback, and is 99.9% complete. I had to get a fender and I still need to find some trim that is missing. She has 300 miles on a ford installed crate motor, and I paid $600 for her.
I'll be using my cruising wagon for parts, and then I'll strip it and save the parts for this one. If there is anything left, you guys will get first crack at the parts, but right now I'll be keeping it for a parts car.
First step is to put some tires on it and get it on the road so I can park my gas loving truck!   :surprised: I have all ready put on a fender, and scrubbed the years of grime off of her. She doesn't look that bad!

Will try to keep everyone posted.....

Dan

Hey Dan,

       Like Kim I was LMAO. Anyway there's a 1980 Pinto in the wrecking yard near me that has powder blue interior. What trim do you need, or is your interior different?

Congratulations on your new baby... may you both thrive and drive!

Well, I have gave up on the wagon. After cleaning it up, I noticed that it had been wrecked real bad...the roof, back door, and driver door all had 3 inches of bondo on them, and under the bondo was rust! A lot of rust.

As far as trim, I'm missing the wheel well trim on the driver side front fender, and the wide bottom chrome trim, also on the driver side. The inside is blue, and like most, needs to be redone, but it's all there.

Kim, I to prefer the trunk models, but I can't seem to find one... but I know where a FEW are  :hypno: :look:
when you're not looking....  ::)

Thanks Tommy's for the info on tires, but I have new ones in storage that I'll put on if I get off my backside and do it. You sold me the radio bezel for the wagon, and it was the perfect color for the HB. Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words.

.
I might have the chrome trim you need but it most likely will be the weekend before I can look. Not sure if the fender trim is damaged or not, I hit that fender with the skid loader bucket, not sure if it hit the trim. I'll look ASAP.  Congrat's on a nice find!
