Looks like I found a pinto for my wife.
It is a brown '77 hatch with a 2.3 and automatic.
Great body and the factory rally 5 slot wheels.
It also looks to have a dealer installed AC system that I will be pulling out of it.
The AC controls are in a seperate panel at the top of the storage tray and the ducting has rendered the glove box to be useful to holding an envelope and maybe a small pair of gloves. :P
I have seen the controls for the dealer air in 2-3 places in the interior, was there ever a standardized location for them?
When I get the car and get the added AC parts removed I will put them up for sale.
Keep you eyes peeled if you are interested and I will post them up with pics.
Of course this will more than likely be in february.
Looks like we are gonna be a 2 turbopinto family. :D

It sounds like it is the same setup as in my Dad's 79 Wagon with the controls on a wood grain panel to the top of the jockey box. Ours has enough room for the owners manual in the glove box ;D My Dad ordered his car with factory air however it arrived without it. The dealer gave him the choice of ordering him a new car or having them install the dealer air. He chose the latter and was unhappy with how it worked since day one. He was never unhappy with the car though 8) Post some pictures of your car when you have a chance.
I have the dealer supplied air in my '76 wagon. It was the first time I had ever seen such a setup, the controls are smack dab in the center of the dash with a speed and "strength" knob superimposed on the faux woodgrain panel. I don't particularly care for the setup, but it does work.
I am in the process of reproducing the woodgrain panel; mine was cracked in all four corners near the screw holes, as expected.

Let me know if you get rid of the small glovebox. It's the only part I don't have for mine.if [/color]
