I am looking for a project wagon to build myself a Pintchero. I have the idea to cut the roof off behind the door post on back. For the rear bed use the rear window and inner bed wall and floor from a Dodge rampage. The demensions are very close. I think I could put the Pinto tailgate outter skin on to the Rampage tailgate. The big question is when I cut the rear roof off the wagon will the car sag? If anyone has any info on building a Pintchero please write back on this subject. I'm sure others would like to know too. Let me know if you have a cheap donar 76-80 wagon.

I would think that if it were to sag, you could always reinforce the "bed" of the then "truck" by welding steel stock to the sides of the "bed", using the pillars as anchor points.
Here's a Bobchero i scraped that started life as a wagon, they used the back door glass about 8" behind the seats to finish off the roof.

Not to hijack this thread but how much for the mirrors off of the Bobchero?

hry guys there is some pics of ranchero pintos on yahoos image search of pintos a nice yellow one!! have some pics ill post them later this week!!
I cut the roof off an 80 wagon behind the door posts and it didn't sag. I used it for a while as a "yard truck" to move parts and piles of wood for at least a year. I don't have it any more.
bbobcat if its the one i think it is Search the site for it. Yellow with Black Stiping like the Super bee's had.
Isn't the yellow Pinchero down in Florida now?
If you are anywhere in Florida, perhaps you could get a hold of the yellow Pinchero's owner and take a looksie around it's construction?
My pintaro has no reinforcement and it does just fine.
PINTARO
If the yellow Pinchero with the black stripe you are referring to is the same one that is on flickr .com I believe it is in Alberta Canada as I have seen it at several show and shines this past summer and know the guy that owns it,nicely done unit and does not appear to have any sagging issues from having the rear roof section removed. If there is one in Florida would like to see photos of it.
Yea Dave you know the the guy real well  Fred
Maybe I'm thinking of the original Sprint car that has moved states so many times.... :P

I have never seen the black one with blue flames. Who's would that be?
Well I see that there is some interest in Pinto Pickups. But no info on any members that have actually built one. I've had no luck on net searches. Years ago I saw one in my town that was made out of a early squire wagon. I'm still looking for a wagon in east centeral PA to build one. But they are getting very scarce. Any help is appreciated.
