when the engine was dropped back into the car the started wire got all messed up. were would i go about finding a new wire n shielding that covers the wire?
may sound stupid but my first car no exp before
Do you have a picture of what wire you are referring to? That might make it a little easier to pinpoint and give you an accurate answer.
I'm sorry but i don't atm I'm living were i cant work on the car. i can get one but could take like a week to get the pic of it on here.
Not a problem.. Pics generally make it easier so I'll just take a stab at it..
First off is what engine you have in it?
Second, Are you referring to the wire that actually bolts to the starter itself or one of the wires at the solenoid? That'll give an idea so you can get the right information.
its the 2.3l and its the wire that bolts onto the starter
Go to your local parts store and get a battery cable with an eyelet on both ends, take the covering off of the old one and slide it on the new, I don't know of any replacements that come with the heat shield cover.
ok thanks
If you would like to replace the 'heat shield' with something newer and something that may work a bit better than stuff that is pushing 35 years old, try using some of the protective covering racers use to cover spark plug wires to protect them from tubular headers. Not sure what the actual name of them is, but if you explain it to the parts counter at your local auto parts place, they should know what you mean.
oo ok i think i know what you are talking about thanks
