Title: Turbo computer wiring ?'s
Post by: Wittsend on November 07, 2008, 08:41:55 PM
Well..., I'm sure this is the first of many questions regarding the LA-3 computer.  I do NOT have the computer installed and I am using the original 1988 T/C harness.  At this point I'm just checking voltages at the computer connector.
By the way, I have every internet downloadable schematic known to man (I think). So, sending me looking for them is not the solution.

Question:
Should I be getting 12 volts on pin #1?  As best I can tell the blue fusible link should be sending voltage down the Yellow wire even with the ignition off.  Is this correct?  I ask because I have no voltage.  If I turn the ignition on I do get 12 volts on the red wire (pin #37) - which I should.

I'll start with that.  I'm sure I'll be back later for more questions. Count on it!
Thanks,Tom

yes, the yellow, pin 1, should be getting constant 12v.  mine is currently on the battery side of the starter solenoid.  it will be moved directly to the battery this winter.

Thank you Bob.  The Turbo Coupe always ran (I had it for 15 years now).  Even though it sat the last four years I ran it for an hour before I ventured into this project.  Ironically I found the fusible link "fused" on that line (and it looked like it had been for a while), but like I said, it always ran.  Anyway, I physically fixed the fuse link, but perhaps it is bad in another spot.  I'll trace it down tomorrow.

Now, back to tracing the Pinto column wires into the T/C steering column... Ughhh. I sure hope the comfort of stalk mounted high beams, washer, cruise control and "tilt" are worth all the effort!!!

there should be a total of 3 yellow wires going to your possative post.  one to the eeciv and 2 to the ircm...or relay box.  do you have the 2 grounds hooked up??  also, dont forget to ground the hego when you get it up and running, its the orange wire, pin 49.

Bob,
Got it fixed today.  It was the fusible link.  I now have 12V at pin #1.  I'll look into pin #49.  I'm using the stock 1988 T/C wire harness.  Shouldn't that be taken care of?  That being the O2 sensor hooked up correctly.
