I found this plastic counsel peice in my 71 Pinto. It was in the back seat, but looks like it goes up under the dash on the tunnel, but there is no place to attatch it! Is this part for my year Pinto? See first pic.
The second thing I need help with is the second pic! What does that wire harness go to? It is above the glove box, under the dash!
Ok, that console looks like the one that's in my car (78) it should have a bracket setup that looks like this:

The bottom (white)part is welded to the floor and the top part bolts to each side of it and to the bottom of the dash (beneath the radio).
The plug you're showing looks just like my seat belt buzzer connector, but mine is near the fuse box. Other years of pintos had relays mounted behind the lower edge of the dashpad, but I'm not too familiar with 71's.
The 71 does not have that bracket on the floor, and the center consoles for them were (optional?) larger and different. Some past owner might have wanted to put that in.
Ford has left extra and unused plugs around in a car harness; this kept them from having a different harness for every little option. I would look to make sure everything works and if so, then it might be unused. If I get a chance I will look at mine to see, but mine has factory A/C so the harness is most likely different anyway.
Bill
The harness looks like it might be for either a door buzzer or seat belt buzzer but I am not 100% sure. Like someone said, it could be for anything
it is for the buzzer, it is mounted above the glove box on the '71, it might still be there. Mine still works! Anti-theft device,(take the keys out dummy)!!!
As stated earlier, that is the center console cubby that goes beneath the radio.
There should be two perches on the transmission tunnel (on the "floor") under the dash which the console bracket/dash support is secured to. I have an extra one if you would like it.

I got mine to work when I found the modules from another 77 wagon that I parted out. I see why people threw those things away ;D.
Sorry for the brief hijack ;D
Thanks everyone!!!
I think I will just hold onto the cubby box, just in case my other car is supposed to have one. The green machine doesn't have the brackets, so I don't really want to add them! I'm trying to keep it somewhat stock!!! :)
As 78squirewagon posted, the connection above the glove box is for the door buzzer.
I finally found one in an 86 Merkur which worked. I posted several times about the buzzers and did some researching on how to find a new one, but they are expensive from Ford.
After installing it, as 78squirewagon also posted, I found it rather annoying (seeing it as I have my door open with the keys in frequently), and it sits in one of my many boxes of Pinto parts. :)
The moral of this? Don't get stressed trying to find one, like I did, and in the end regretting ever trying it. :P
my view of the kazoo: best left disconnected.
Mine seem to fade in and out, depending on how ambitious they feel about being annoying at any given time.
So is a parts id what you have parked in back for just in case you need random parts for your Altair IV monster?
Does anybody ever need parts ego or a parts superego?
