Hi folks,
I am enclosing a photo of the oil level stick from my Pinto 2.3 motor. I am new to Pintos. Is this a genuine pinto stick.?
Reason is: After changing the oil on my '78 Pinto powered custom car I was getting an oil level nearly 2 inches above the recommended level after putting in about 4 and a half quarts and a new filter and running the motor for 10 miles!
It has also suddenly created an oil leak from a oil pipe connection that runs down the drivers side of the motor and routes under the motor and up around the passenger side of the motor.
Could this be because there is too much oil in the motor?
Thanks .. Fred
that looks like a transmission dip stick, not the oil stick which muight explain why it says there is too much oil
Yeah, that looks like a transmission dipstick to me also. The 2.3L engine does take 4.5 quarts so if that is what you put in there is no way you overfilled it. I'd say it's just coincidence that you developed an oil leak after changing the oil.
I agree this looks like a trans dipstick. Handle appears chrome-definitely aftermarket. Would like to see pics of the oil line leaking. Have had many 2.3s, but never with an external oil line unless turbo. More pics!!
Okay guys,
Think I got the problem sorted.
The oil line goes to an oil cooler that is mounted out of the way and in front of the radiator. It is leaking from a connection of a rubber to metal pipe .
Think I have it all done.
thanks
