Title: auto trans. downshift cable??
Post by: r4pinto on August 30, 2004, 04:26:23 PM
Hey all,

I just got an email from the previous owner of my Pinto, and he told me the reason it doesn't shift from 1st- 2nd, is that there is no downshift cable installed... Anybody with an automatic transmission Pinto know where is goes to?? I checked my repair manual, but there was no mention of one...

Any help will be appreciated.

i believe it's called a kickdown linkage, and its located on the driver side or the engine near the back, and the fron driver side of the tranny, it's a little lever that moves sligthly up and down, it's held on with a c-clip on each end, not sure where to get one besides a junkyard.

yeah, that's what it's called alright... just didn't know if I was the only one to call it that or not....I'll grab one at the junkyard the next time I'm at one.

Thanx
