Title: 4-lug to 5-lug conversion for 73 and 76 "Pintos"... Sorta...
Post by: PintoWillys on October 22, 2008, 09:43:19 PM
Hello folks. This is my first post here, but I have a valid question and I came searching for sage advice... I have what are essentially two Pintos... One is a 1976 engine, chassis, and axles with a 1929 Mercedes-Benz repro body on top. The other is a 1973 engine and axles with an original 1956 Willy's Jeep body. (I didn't build either one, they just came to live with me like that... Imagine my surprise when I got the Jeep home after already owning the previous Pinto-mobile... Almost equal to my surprise that there is a website devoted to Pintos! This is great!) The problem that I have is that the original Pinto wheels are wrong and look funny on the Mercedes and the original Pinto wheels are not big enough for reproduction military tires for the Jeep. So essentially, I need to find some way to convert a 4-lug Pinto to a 5-lug. Ford will work, as long as it is 5-lug. Anyone know how to do this? Also, anyone know what the typical 73-76 Pinto 4-lug pattern measures? Is it 4.25" or 4.50"?

Both sound really cool  post pic sometime please. The bolt pattern is 4.25  The same  bolt pattern  was available on mustangs, and t-birds  easyest way to go larger rim. but you have to watch the back spacing  but the other  option would be changing the rear end (nothing is a direct  bolt in) and  chancing  rotors and calipers for front also some customizing involved i have herd there is a kit  available for that swap but it is listed for a mustang II   If you use the search  you can find a lot more details on  the swaps
OH YEA  WELCOME  to the site.
