Title: Automatic carburetor versus stick shift carburetor
Post by: Starliner on October 19, 2008, 08:47:06 PM
I was wondering what was different between the 2000 stick & 2000 automatic caburetors?  Power valve?  other?

I need to rebuild wifey's 79 2.3 automatic carburetor.   I was thinking instead of rebuilding a early 2.0 carburetor to bypass all the smog hook-ups and run a better mixture.

To be honest the early model 2.3 carbs don't have the smog hookups. The 78 I had did have the economy valve but the one on my 77 does not. 77 or older should be ok as long as the car didn't have the smog junk.

Just taking a guess by what I have experienced. If anyone knows different please correct me so I learn for next time.

Economy valve? Are you speaking of the power valve? I have yet to run into a Holley 5200 without a power valve on it.

I might be calling it the wrong thing then, and that is always possible with me.

Edit 10/31/08: Yep I was mistaken.
