Now you just need to relace the slitted vynl piece that goes around the
stalk. Someone repro's this. I think you can find it with some research.

About the rubber that goes around the shifter stalk-  I bought one from a repro company for a Mustang II.  The part fit, but the rubber was so tight around the stalk that it ripped the third time I moved the shifter.   >:(

thanks reed for the info, before i go and waste some money. i have not had that seal on the car since i have started to drive it, and has never really bugged me all that much. i really dont see what the big deal is having that seal there. o well, if any one has a nice used one maybe that would work, but im sure that all most every ones car on here has one that is ripped or missing just like mine. i have even went and looked at fox body mustangs and cougars and t-birds and there all the same at the junk yards, missing or shreds!!! well if any one has a good, aftermarket one that they would buy themselves let me know if the price was right i would buy one.
thanks again
eric

For the rubber seal all you need is an old bicycle inner tube and a tube of contact cement. Remove the existing metal frame, soak it in laquer thinner to remove the old seal, sand it clean, prime the metal, glue a part of the inner tube to the frame and slit it as needed with a single edge razor blade. when done it looks like new.

P.S. 65-66 mustang seals don't fit, I tried >:(

Phil is right. That one fits great. I got that way back when and it looks like a new shifter trim.
