Hey everyone,
I've been gathering parts to convert from manual to power steering on my 74 Runabout. I've ordered power racks 3 times and they all have different bolt holes than my manual. the manual is 16" on center (ignoring the 3rd hole) and the power racks come with holes 15 1/2" on center. have any of you just elongated the frame holes to make one fit? It looks like the rag joint mount is a larger diameter as well but I saw one on E-Bay.

I measured center hole to center hole with #1" lined up for acuracy to 17" = total 16". This unit is in ex shape, no loosnes on ball joints or rack tie rods. No tears in boots. Fred :)

There are 3 different rack and pinions used on the pintos. I believe one is for the 71-72 models, one is for the 73 models, and the other is for the 74-80 models. For some reason the parts stores list them all for all of the cars tho. It took me 2 or 3 tries to get the right one. The correct one they at first told me they couldnt even order. Eventually they found out they could order it and once i finally got it, it was right. You will likely only use two mounting holes tho.
