I got my trans from a 1990 , mustang 4 cyl., 5 speed. with the bell housing and it has the funky transistion cable/arm that i am still not sure wether it works in Pintos or not.
FINALLY found a stock 2.0 flywheel(thanx pintoracer), pedals are here.(thanx Fred).
what size clutch & such do I need now? since the spline on the 5 speed is different I suppose i order Clutch & PP for a 1990 Mustang??
I was told my C4 driveshaft is the one I need??
I sure hope this 77 MustangII clutch cable works because that is something else i didn't find.
Help me finalize this parts issue so i can get this in before the weather gets too cold for me to want to work on it. thanx , crossy
I can tell you the C4 yoke will work.. I'm using one in the same tranny in a swap I did.
Best of Luck

Note: A 6 3/4 inch rear end will take a different length drive shaft than a 8 inch rear. I had a Aerostar aluminum drive shaft ($17 at 1/2 price Pick Your Part day) shortened, high speed balanced, and new U-joints installed for $140 from Drive Line Service near Los Angeles.
I used a 74 up Pinto cable which is still available from parts stores. I had to make a slight notch for cable clearance in the crossmember. A 1" holesaw angled thru the corner did the trick. Good luck!
In my '73, 2000, C-4, 6-3/4" to 2.3, T-5, 8" conversion:
I use an '88 T-5 with a mid 80's bellcrank housing (which is what I think you are describing).
I used a cable from a 79 or 80 Pinto. I did make an adapter to elevate the cable over the crossmember. Hint, angle the adapter to better clear the crossmember. See picture attached.
I used the original driveshaft (and yoke) even though I went from a C-4 to a T-5 and a 6-3/4" to an 8". It fit just fine. :-)

If your install has the pivot arm on the outside of the bell as part of the clutch linkage, you may have clearence issues with the crossmember, I did with mine.
Only certain bells have this issue. I cut a notch in mine, (crossmember), with a sawzall and welded a piece of steel square tube in it's place. Not all that hard.
Can also modify bell to fit the two top engine mounting bolts as the two liter's are lower and wider apart than the 2.3. Also did this with mine.
There are members who will also have the correct size bushings to use with the two locating pins for the bell to block allignment, as they are of different size.
The results are worth the effort. There may also be a relocation of the shifter where it comes into the cab, a little sheet metal work.
