Title: replacing the wiper linkage
Post by: r4pinto on August 21, 2004, 10:18:18 PM
I have a 1978 Pinto HB with a wiper linkage, so I'm gonna replace it.

How do I do it?? I found a 1980 Pinto wagon in the junkyard near me, so I'm goin after it, but don't know how to remove it.

The wiper linkage is installed from the inside of the car up under the dash. If you have everything in place, ie. heater/AC, radio, instrument cluster, etc, it will be almost impossible to get it out or install it. I would removing as much of those items as you feel comfortable with to make your job go easier. If you need to change your heater core or any of those other type jobs, now would be the time to do it by removing the heater/AC unit. If I remember properly, there are three bolts that hold each pivot to the underside of the dash and then the link connects to the wiper motor. You will need to make sure the gaskets are in good condition or you will have flash flood conditions when it rains. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
