I got the rear spoiler from MAP351
Here is the picture.
I could not find a front spoiler to purchase.
So I made one from plastic deck drainage pieces from Lowes ;D
I put two extrusions together and put 'L' brackets for support.
It cost me $15.00 :hypno:
This is only my beater car that I drive 110 miles a day to & back from work.
See picture. I am ready for being slammed!
I will see what the gas mileage is next week and on my Michigan to Tennessee trip in two weeks.
The color even matched!
See front view picture.
Before I was getting...
* 42 mpg at 55 mph
* 38 mpg at 65 mph
* 34 mpg at 75 mph
I am hoping the spoilers help the gas mileage at higher speeds.
Cool! Please keep us posted! I want to do these same things (front and rear spoilers) to my 71 Pinto to increase fuel economy. Please post your results.
You call that a beater?! Thats a sweet looking early Pinto! The emblem on the rear spoiler is a nice touch. BTW, there is a company called MAS fiberglass that makes Pinto stuff. I got a front and rear spoiler from them, I haven't used the front yet, (still using my JC Whitney air dam), it is shaped like a mach 1 mustang. They have ads in Mustang mags like Mustangs & Fast Fords.
I went to the MAS website and I could not find anything for Pintos.
Can you post a link?

Half way down on the left side
You may need to call them.
Direct quote from their site:
"If you are ordering 23T components, fiberglass or special order items, please call MAS Racing products at 651-644-6811, email your order to info@masracing.biz or fax it to 651-644-1635."
Thanks for that link! Those are some pretty good prices, but I would like to see some pipctures. I wonder if they make louvres for Pintos....
Thanks for the link on the spoiler.
I wish I had seen that front spoiler before, it would have looked better than my front spoiler made out of decking. :lol:
The good news is the front spoiler works! I got 39mpg @ 70mph through Ohio on I-75. Better mileage at higher speeds. It was perfect conditions with very little wind and the terrain is very flat.
Now when I got to the mountains of Kentucky & Tennessee that was another story. On some of the inclines the little 1600 could only do 50-55 mph uphill with my foot in it. :2fast4u:
Sweet! I have a roll of galvanized steel that I plan on using to fabricate a front and rear spoiler. Your results give me hope!
Question for who ever knows. Went to MAS Racing site to ck out frt spoilers. How much of a difference is there between a 78 & 79 for mounting a spoiler. I'm not familiar with a 78. Maybe a minor fab adjustment?
Thanks, DK
