This is the way to realy clean it out.  Fred
Yep. that sure would make that job easier. If i was a better welder I might attempt it, but I am afraid my Pinto would look like Frankenstein's monster after i got done putting the cowl back on....
WOW.. I have Never seen this before...
I have actually purchased a NOS Cowl to replace my yellow 72's but the body shop did not want to touch it considering they would need to separate the unibody to insert this piece... They did a nice job of getting it fixed up but THIS is really cool.. you know absolutely that it's fixed, something I'm unsure of...
Meanwhile, my greensales cowl sits in a corner collecting dust...
It would almost make sense, if you were ambitious and had the right tools, to remove the cowl section, treat the area in and around it properly, and then weld in a newer style cowl vent setup from a late model vehicle, allowing you to have access. That would be >very< slick and unique.
Chris
I could picture 1 being cut out, have trim around edges piano hinge 1 end and aircraft spring loaded flush fastner other end yea im looking at that right now nice. Fred
How about cut the top of the firewall out between the hood hinges and fashion either a plastic or sheetmeal plate that screws over the hole?
That would be better. Hey whats the temp up there today 109 deg here. Fred
Good grief Fred, I complained all Summer about the 100+ degrees temps, now it's in the upper 80's (far better). Where the heck do you live that's 109 degrees in late September? Haiti?
Chris
I am at a balmy 61 degrees and overcast right now. It sprinkled a bit earlier. But I'm from Alaska so 61 is a nice summer day for me. :D
Chris I live as close to hell as I can get. Tommorow its going to be 111deg. Colorado river accross from Parker AZ. Reed I wish I was there sitting in a chair in the rain. Fred
