Title: British bob-cat owner, in need of some information-any will b great!
Post by: britcat on August 20, 2004, 03:16:26 PM
Hi everybody and thanks for checking this out, as it says above any help will be great, thank you... Well, i am a british guy and obviously live in britain also so information on bobcats/pinto's is quite hard to find! About five years ago my partners brother bought her a mercury bobcat as a gift for passing her driving test(this is long before i met her). Unfortunately the car needed some work doing and parts were very hard to get hold of(being in britain!!) so the car has been in a storage unit ever since(having been stripped and re-sprayed). I met my partner lisa about 16 months ago, and for one reason or another am yet to have a look at the car(i have a project VW at the moment which takes up most of my time!). But i am definately going to have a look soon, and hopefully get started on it just as soon as i finish my VW(its a golf by the way, but you would possibly call it a rabbit in the states? am i correct?) Anyway now for the bobcat questions:

As far as i can see from the few websites i can find the bobcat and the pinto is virtually the same car, if this is true can i fit a pinto bonnet and grill onto my bobcat? (as i much prefer the look of the pinto's front end!)

If anybody knows of any decent companies, paticularly mail-order or over-seas that sell bobcat/pinto parts cheap or just have good service, could you please leave me the information!

does anybody know of any companies that do performance/styling parts and modifications particularly for the pinto/bobcat! i would prefer web-sites for this but mail order is good too!

Well thanks for any help, and hopefully when my VW is finished we can get cracking with the Bobcat, maybe inject our own brand of Euro-styling, post some pics and you can see what you think of some of the British styled cars!!! look forward to any replies and once again thanks, your sincerely a very isolated bobcat owner!

I doubt it. You'll probably need to redo the fenders and possibly the bumper if you go that route. The Pinto's grill is a bit narrower than the 'Cats. And the bonnet is more pointed at the nose (at least on the earlier versions). I believe the bonnet question will depend on what year the Bobcat is and what Pinto look you prefer (early or late).
