What are the wagons rated at? How big of a trailer can be towed by a wagon? What is the payload of a wagon? Thansk!
I don't have a technical answer for you but this post made me laugh. I had a 72 wagon in the late 70's and would regularly fold the seats down and fill it to the rim with firewood. The axle bumpers were against the springs. Just a dumb kid. It was about a half a rick of wood though! Man, those were the days.
Maybe someone else can give you some good numbers.

well we towed an international scout with my bobcat. tongue weight is i think like 400lbs max tow is supposed to be up to a half ton i think. but you can push them a little harder.
I bet if you PM Pintaro youll get an idea...that guy pulls everything with his wagon....

This same question was asked about a month or so ago and there was an accurate answer given. Look back in the messages a little and you will find it.
This is me about to pull a boat and trailer weighing about 1200LBS with gear with a 1980 2.3L auto trans pinto. The tongue weight was only about 150LBS. It was an easy pull even on mountain roads. I did need to turn off the air up the really bad ones to keep the temp down. You can push it by adding "helper springs" in the rear, extra oil and trans (auto) cooler. Better rear end gears than highway ratios can make a big difference also.

Well lets see,My 75 pinto wagon with a 14 foot buggy trailer with my buggy and a dirt bike along with 85 gallons of fuel.Whats that weigh?I pull my 16 foot boat,I pulled a small travel trailer to the Tulsa meet.Scaffolds you name it Ive probably had it behind my bean.
Thanks! i am debating giving up one of my full-size ford vans for a pinto wagon.
I worked out of the back of my bean for two years before I started turning it into the Poison Pinto.I carryed almost as much in the pinto as I do my company van now.I miss driving it every day but I dont miss the wear and tear I put on my car.
