Title: scale weight
Post by: esoteric on September 04, 2008, 11:42:04 PM
What is the true weight of a '78 Pinto sedan?

Most publications specify 2500 or so, but I don't know if that includes fluids.

Thanks in advance

Hay map351

Thats a car with 54.6% front weight.
I would be interested in seeing the front % of a V6 and a V8 compared to a 2.3 and 2.0.

I had mine weighed at the track.

79 sedan, 302 w/ iron heads, C4 auto and 8" rear @ 2620lbs without my fat a$$.

He gave me the weight at all 4 corners also, but I don't have them in front of me right now. But I know it was considerably heavier on the front end.

A 351W weighs about 60LBS more than a simular equipped 302 if that helps. You will pick up about 100 Ft LBS of touque over the 302 for any given cam (302 and 351W can take the same cam with a change in firing order).

Stock:
289 CI=460LBS
302 CI=465LBS
351W CI=525LBS
