I guess everyone has a story so here's mine. This car and i sort of came of age together so she's definatly part of the family.
I bought the car in 83-85(not really sure)it already had a V8 but it was blown up already.Had a 289 from a fairlane i had just totaled that i had just rebuilt, guess that explains why it was totaled!Sounds too easy don't it :)After about a week I ripped the drivers side motor mount clean off the frame, out comes the engine again.I maybe got another week before I ripped the pass side ,I know why didn't I do both sides at the same time, young and stupid is the answer.anyway out it came again, this now was fun for the next couple of years rust drum brakes and all.I scored a set of used hooker headers about that time, guess what, engine too far forward(remember no kits only what I could make). After much cursing cutting and swearing I made mounts to take an old galaxy's lower mount as a bolt in this time with the engine in the right spot.Worked well but the car sure was ugly.A friend and I splashed it and I was off for another couple of years.
Well when the qtrs finally got too bad it was time to re-do it yet again.Remember my friend? by now he had gotten me into bodywork as a living so this was not too much of a challenge however I still didn't know how to paint guess you never really know enough time to try anyway.
What you see is my first attempt to do this on my own.
this is a very abreviated version there is just too much history with me and this car for me to list it all.
I have lived through all the laughter, jokes, being looked down on for not having a "real" car (anyone else have to go through this?) until the last few years. Now I get the "wow that's cool","I remember....." or "What is it?". I guess you just have to hang around long enough for it to suddenly become "cool".
I think that's enough for now(can't type and my two fingers are getting tired),if you want more just ask and I can tell you what else has been done and what is next, time to re-do it yet one more time.
If you waded through all this, thanks for your time to let me rant, bye for now.
