Title: Gas tank removal - how?
Post by: popbumper on August 29, 2008, 04:16:35 PM
All:

My tank has a leak at the sending unit, you can see the fuel collecting at the sender and then "flowing" to the bottom surface of the tank. It is NOT excessive, as there is no active drip, but it definitely IS leaking.

What is the "standard procedure" for removing a gas tank SAFELY and what steps / hazards (besides the obvious) are involved?

I plan to get under the back and and completely restore the axle and everything, so this would be part of the effort. Thanks!

Chris

Well i would make sure that your battery is disconnected to be sure, Then all you have to do is Support it on something like a Jack(especially if it has fuel in it) and disconnect the lines then release the Straps, Slowly bringing it down. generally a simple procedure i would think hope this helps
