Title: Quiet Cooling Fan Wanted
Post by: Late Models Best on August 28, 2008, 07:44:16 PM
My 79 CW with a 2.4 has the bigger noisey engine fan that they came with when equipt with AC.   The car is a 4 speed and and the fan makes a roar when above 2500 RPM.  I want to quiet it down allot.   The AC doesn't work so I don't need the extra air.  It has the fan shroud behind the radiator.   Should I try switching to the smaller non AC fan or is there a lighter flex fan that is quiet.   The only other thing might be a electric fan but how would I hook up a thermostat switch?   My other non AC Pintos don't make so much noise.  Any Help is Apreciated.

The non-a/c fan will fit if it is from the same engine. It will pull more air than an electric, and you won't need to worry about the t-stat failing to turn it on. An electric one would help give you better mileage and power.

BTW: 2.4?
