Title: Alternator light won't go out?????

Alternator light won't go out?????  HELP ! ! !   New Battery, Voltage Reg. and Alternator. Rear wire hookups. Is there just 3 that need to be H/U???? 1979 Pinto with the 2300 Eng.

It goes our when I give it gas. But as soon as I back off the light goes on and then the battery dies

silver colt get an idle speed of 800 if light is on then you have a diode out in alt.. Engine should keep running with light on for atleast 2-3 hrs with good batt.. Fred   :)

Thanks for your repley. I had the alternator check at Schucks and it was fine?????  I"m just going to have to go get a real Mech. to check it out

I just replaced my alternator about 4 months ago because the light came on. I have a volt gauge which still said it was charging fine, replaced it anyway and the light went out.
