Hello, I just bought a '65 Corvair Corsa with a pair of "Pinto 2bbl carbs", which is all the detail the owner could go into about them. It seems like one is running rich, but I've only worked with SU's, and am clueless about these things and can't seem to find a way to adjust the mixture. The float is adjusted identically to the other carb, which is running well. Hope this is enough information.
We Pinto and Corvair people have to stick together! :D
Carburetors! Been a long time since I've had to fool with the Pinto's 5200 Holley/Webers, but the mixture screw is easy. It's very much a Weber 2bbl, with a spring-loaded mixture screw (tapered pintle inside) right down at the base of the carb on the primary barrel only; knurled head with a slot in it, typically a gold color. Sometimes it's covered with a plastic limiting cap which would make it more difficult to recognize; if so, just take the cap off. Adjustment is 'in' until the engine begins to lose revs, then back out just until the idle smooths out again. Ideally use a vacuum gauge and adjust for max idle vacuum. Might be a bit more complex with a deuce. Hope that helps!
Aha! I know just the little bugger you're talking about. I'll give it a shot and let you know how it turns out.
Thanks :)
