...fit under a 1976 wagon, besides the '76? Will all other years mate up? I am asking, because what I would like to do is to get another rear end, completely restore it, and then drop it in under the car rather than pulling the stock one out. I realize gear ratios differ according to model year, etc.
I am trying not to "debilitate" the vehicle as much as possible...it would be nice to spend a day or two dropping in a restored rear end instead of pulling the stock unit out and leaving the vehicle immobile for several weeks.

i think all 74-80 pintos, bobcats, and mustang iis. maybe even the 71-73 but im not possative on that. there were 2 types of axles too. 6.75 (i think) inch and an 8 inch.

I know where there is a '75 2 door, I might just go after that, if it would work. Thanks!

If you're near Omaha or Sioux City, I have a wimpy 6-3/4 rear with 3.08 gears up on eBay now.
I saw your auction today. You are too far away for me (I am in Texas) to meet you at the Dairy Queen or buy you a nice meal!
