Title: transmission swap
Post by: beborzoi on August 24, 2008, 06:49:57 PM
I just acquired a very clean, rust-free original owner 1971 2.0 hatchback.  Perfect car, but it really needs a 4 speed, not the auto.  I would think swapping from another 2.0 would not be a problem, but I was considering a later 5 spd from a Mustang.  Questions, comments, thoughts...

I believe (but am no expert) that the input shaft on the T-5's from anything but one previously attached to a 2.3 are too long.

consoder having the automatic reprogammed and having a (slightly)higher stall speed convertor put in as well as changing the rear gear to a 3:40 or 3:55 or even a 3:73
