Ok, heres my plan ( since I have the motor already) I was looking into doing a V8 swap before, but after a lot of reading on the Site i steered away from that, Not that its too much work, I just don't want to get stuck and Quit on it. I hate doing that.
So decided to do something Unique so to speak, I have a 2.9 out of an 85/86 Bronco II the Query is whats the consensus on what parts i will need, Should i do a TT set up? or a Single turbo w intercooler or w/o intercooler and what everyones thoughts are on the Idea. I don't mind the Cash flow it will take to make the car feesable , or the time it would take to do it, I just want to do it right and not have to worry about it. I ask you all here because you are the best site out there for anything pinto related (even if my cars a bobcat)
Btw thanks tony for the advice

IMHO: The 2.9 is not a durable engine, and a turbo will make things worse. I guess IF you install a forged crank and low-comp. forged pistons, and figure out a way to keep the oil going to the crankshaft, you will just need to figure out a way to keep the heads from breaking in two. If you go through all of that, be sure to use a C3 tranny, and a 6.75" rear.

The 2.8 is the one that has the oiling troubles from my understanding, the 2.9 is a Hydraulic motor, and i have the 8" rear end already in the car, not sure the ratio of the gears yet but i think its 3.55's dont Quote me on that though,as well as the C3 Automatic. After researchig more it seems feesable to do this, I just have to get thicker head gaskets and some better head bolts for it. I appriciate all information i can get, This isnt the first car ive boosted but it is the First "ford" and first "v6" I helped a Friend boost his 98 Nissan 200sx, We swapped in a 2.5 Infinity motor/trans and ECU had it Chipped by Jim wolfe tech in so Cal, All in all it was worth the time and money, So im hoping to do the same with the Bobcat. It would be Quite unique
The comments about C3 and the 6.75" were sarcastic.
I have never had any luck with a 2.9.

Sarcasm on a forum is hard to Gauge so i apologize there. I think they are good so long as you arent too overly hard on them, and my wagon is treated as a cruiser so im not really hard on it. I think im harder on my Aspire then i have ever been on the bobcat. might be why as soon as she had an issue i parked her to find out what it was.
Sorry, but I have to agree w/ Bill. The 2.9 is a 2.8 with hyd. lifters. They have weak internals, they leak oil and antifreeze everywhere, and the heads crack if you look at them the wrong way. Add boost and you add to the problem.
BTW, why would you boost it if you're not going to be hard on it? Just asking. ;D
i like my cars to last but if i wanted to go to the track and play i could play a little. I used to go to firebird and PIR with my old Civic, I ran mid 13's most days with a d15 block and a modified SI transmission, stage II racing cam, port and polish was stage III, I ended up selling the car because i had my dodge ramcharger and couldnt afford insurance on both, my Honda ended up in the scrapper because my little brother decided to take the car and drive it consistantly at high speeds
the engine i built mainly to do Quarter mile runs, not circuit tracks so the internals finally gave out and he spun the #1 rod bearings. I would just prefer to be different i guess =) too many V8 pinto's or L4 turbo pintos why not make a V6 turbo that i can for the most part Bolt right in? I refuse to cut the car up if i dont have too. the 2.8 I have in it went for well over 400K miles before she was done so imo they are and can be great motors
