Well, after hitting the top edge of the fan blades with my fingertips(very lucky, no blood ) I realised that maybe I need a fan shroud. Of course, the added cooling couldn't hurt either.
Before I try to make one or buy a universal type( I prefer the plastic vs the steel), I was wondering if any of the Pintos came with them, or if one off of another car would work.
Thanks,
Russ
I know the 'later' Pintos came with a 'shield' (a flat plasic guard bolted to the top of the rad. support); you should at least have that. If you want a full shroud, the V6 and 2.3 with A/C had them. The only thing is that they will not fit on the narrower 4banger radiators. You need the rad. with the core about 20" wide for it to bolt on without modifications.
I have a used one I will sell, but like I said you need the proper radiator too.

Thanks. That was what I was afraid of.
Oh, well. I have some sheet metal strips that may be perfect to make one out of.

I have a '79 with 2.3 and factory air conditioning. This has a real full fan shroud and a five bladed flexible factory fan.
Russ I have a heavy 1/4" thick plastic shroud for a non A/C radiator. This shroud bolts to rad.. $40.00 + ship . Can send picture and measurements if needed. Fred :)
Thanks, Fred. My wife has informed me that I have spent enough for now though. She suggests I keep my hands away from the fan. :rolleye:
