Title: So what about spindles?
Post by: Ironman on August 14, 2008, 11:05:30 PM

If there are two different height spindles,.. are there also two different length upper A arms? or two different  A arm mounting locations?

If there are 2 different length upper A arms,..  the tall spindle with a longer A arm would have camber and caster occurring in greater measure as the suspension compresses.
Unless the A arm mounting location is raised the same distance  that the spindle increases in hieght over the earlier version. If so,.. and the A arm is longer,.. then it would also have the mounting point moved inboard as well to maintain geometry.

Pintony,..

Whats got me interested is the posibility of increasing the rate camber and caster occur.
I'm wanting to lower my Duratec project car and stiffen the suspension just a little, not so much it rattles your teeth out of your head, but enough to keep it from "wallowing" through the corners.  I'm thinking there may be some extra "sticktion" available by getting a better footprint on a low travel suspension.

Here is my 72 Turbo 2.0 Pinto.
The lowering in the front is done by cutting 2/3 coil from the stock Pinto springs and installing Koni shocks on all 4 corners.
