Lots of fun comments ! Vote too!
Well, that could be a pretty good looking Pinto but we know it was not built by the factory. It will be interesting to see what kind of a story the owner has for its' authenticity.
;D ;D ;D Wait, I think I see a unicorn behind it.... No, thats just Big foot I think. What a hoot........... This should go on Ripley's believe it or not...........
Where's the logic too. Jenkins didn't start running (and winning with) his Vega until 1972 - and then the Pinto's came out to race. In any case I don't recall any Pinto's racing in Pro Stock back in 1971 (the year he implies he was chosen over Glidden). The top Ford at that time was Nicholson and his SOHC Maverick. I don't think the NHRA Pro Stock rules even accounted for the shorter wheel base cars until 1972. It was only after different weight breaks for wheel base rules came about. This ultimately gave us Gapp & Roush's 4 door Maverick !
Also, Glidden raced Super Stock and then migrated to Pro Stock ('73, 74?) with the old Gapp & Roush car. I know because I was at the World Finals in Ontario, CA when he was runner up to G&R. So, where would Glidden have ever raced a twin turbo car?
Buddy Ingersoll was the only Turbo Pinto of notoriety back then. And I believe that was closer to mid to late 70's.
I know I'm rambling about old history here, but there is nothing to substantiate this guys claims that he (whoever "he" is) was chosen over Glidden to drive this mystery vehicle. And in "what" prominant class might I add.
Tom
Besides that, Buddys car eventually got banned because of the turbos and NHRA changed the rules in Pro Stock in include No power adders.
I think you are all missing the bigger pic here it is not a 71 it is a 74-77 look at the big chrome bumpers. He could at least get the year right.

Yes, and we can easily do the math on how much HP it has. Lets see, according to sources, a N/A 2.3 has 300 HP. So then we add 2 turbos ( each one of course putting out 30 lbs of boost on pump gas ) thats 300 Hp each turbo so the math is 300+300+300 = 900 HP. Cool, I want one.............. ;D
I think they put the turbos on to haul CRACK :hypno: :hypno: :hypno: The clue's right in the sales Bio.
