Title: Seat leg support plastic "clips"
Post by: popbumper on August 11, 2008, 12:32:52 PM
Hi all:

I know I should have a pic, but this should be straightforward. On the front setas, there are two legs/four bolts that attach the seat to the floor. The front two bolts have a black plastic "clip" or "shroud" or whatever you want to call it between the leg and the carpet.

QUESTION: Should there be a clip on both front bolts for both the driver and passenger seats (for a total of four)? And/or, should there also be clips on the rear bolts as well (for a total of eight)? Can anyone confirm? On cars I have seen, the number seems to be inconsistent.

PS - I'm going to reproduce these, along with some other molded parts.

On my car there is only four two on each the front of  seats,,,, and i think there on there,,, to stop the steel legs from rusting the carpet when its cleaned or gets wet

Hey popbumper:

Here is the information from Ford's Master Parts Catalog for 1974-1979 Pintos
about the black plastic "seat feet", part number 61748 as shown in the attached figure.

My '77 Pinto had all four plastic feet per seat for a total of eight feet in the car.

Hope this helps.

That is OUTSTANDING informatiojn. That is why this group is so great, thanks!

Pintony: No way I'm tossing mine. I see your point, but for the sake of authenticity, I'm gonna make them/use them - even if I am the only guy. Besides, there will be NO french fry eating in my car when it's done (referring to junk that they would catch) .

Awesome! I've been meaning to ask this question for some time....

I will add it to my list of parts to pick up from the dealership!

Hey Pintony:

Attached is the listing.  Not wrong on my part, just stating what is in the Ford Catalog.

I went to my local dealership today and they said they can't get the part from anywhere. :(

Has anyone else had any luck finding them?

Dave:

Hang tight, I'm going to reproduce these from urethane. Seriously, within a month window I will have some samples, and I'll be happy to provide you one to check out and evaluate if you are interested. I will be posting in a separate thread regarding these pieces as the effort comes together. This will be the first of several molded items I plan to offer.

Chris.

Since you stepped up I will be happy to have you evaluate these...hope you won't mind. The first units may be "natural", i.e., unpigmented, but the final units will be black.
