i lost the torque setting when i removed the yoke to install a new pinion seal . doae anyone know what the torque value should be to retorque the driveshaft yoke thanks pintokite
This is per a 1980 Ford shop manual for the 6-3/4" integral carrier axle. The minimum torque for the pinion nut is 140 ft-lb. You are suppose to keep torquing after this level until the pinion bearing preload is 6 to 12 in-lb for original bearings or 17 to 27 in-lb for new bearings. If the bearing preload is achieved before the minimum torque of 140 ft-lb is attained, you need to replace the collaspable sleeve. Remember the pinion bearing preload is easiestly measured with the chunk removed (more work).
thank you for your reply helped me out of a jam . now moving forward and gaining ground. again thank you for your help.
