Long story short, when I was taking the plastic cover off of the seat belt retractor mechanism I pulled a clear cap off and a long copper strand uncoiled violently into my car. Without this, the seat belt doesnt get pulled back when you take it off. If you've had this problem before you should know what Im talking about. Its hard to explain. Has anyone ever tried to re-coil this thing up? Is it worth the effort to try and repair it? The seat belt works fine, so thankfully I wont be driving around without one.

I've seen too many Red-Green shows!!!! ;D
I Saw That Episode!!! ;) ;D
HAha that would be a good idea although I dont think I would trust my butt to it if I got in an accident :P
I wrestled with the thing earlier today and with some help I was able to get it all coiled back in. What a fun task ::) I was pretty mad at it last night because that was pretty much the only thing that went wrong with yesterdays project.
Yup, when I replaced the carpet thats when it happened. When I was removing the plastic cover over the belt mechanism to get the carpet out (mine is no longer attached by the rivet) I pulled off the opaque plastic cap and it all came un-done.
Im glad I got it fixed because Im sure it would have been hard to find a belt the same color...
