Alrighty, I've tried ebay, didn't get much luck.. But i'm looking for a wiring harness for a 1979 Ford Pinto. I heard you can also use the wiring harness from a 79 mustang too, but I couldn't find one of those either. If any of you know where to get a wiring harness please let me know a.s.a.p.
If not, then any ideas where I can find some kind of old wiring diaghram?
Thanks ahead !
Hoosh!
The previous owner rigged the wiring around, and sort of messed up a lot of things. One day while I was taking the Pinto out for a test run in an open parking lot nearby our house, smoke starting rising from under the dashboard and some of the wires had melted off. There was quite a bit of smoke, but no fire. I'm clueless about the wiring stuff though but I was told by the guy working on my car I needed either the harness or diagram to change the wires.
And yes, may I see the diagrams incase I cannot find a harness at all?
Pintony-
I am curious. Why did you ask if the op has replaced the steering wheel with an aftermarket one?
I have a 79 and am going to be doing that soon. Is there something I need to know before I do that?
Thanks,
Russ
Most likey he asked because of the horn contacts. They may have shorted out and burned up the wiring. If driving around long enough with the burnt wiring and not knowing it, it may have melted other wires as well if the fuse failed to blow.
I'm not positive, but it's what I would assume since I've sparked the horn contacts several times when I have had to service my turn signal switch and/or steering shaft.
Thanks Tony! :)
Glad to see my close encounters with electrocution are paying off. :D
what part of the wiring harness do you need?
