My 79 hatchback looks like the nose is higher than the rear. I have ordered a Haynes manual which may have this info, but haven't gotten it yet.
Just looking for some place I can measure to see if the rear is really lower than it should be. Bumper, top of wheel well, etc.
Thanks,
Russ
It should be where you want it, AND where it will do you the most good if you need it (not too high, not too low).
I would say that they came from the factory with both bumpers at about the same height. Also, I don't think you will find that information in any shop books.
Most likely your leaf springs are worn or broken (very common). You will need to remove the 'pins' and inspect all the individual leafs for cracks. IMHO: Most Pintos on the road have cracks in the springs and the owners just don't know it.

Thanks.
That is what I am afraid of, I was just wanting to make sure I had a problem before messing with it. I thought that there would be some more information. Still getting used to the differences between the Mustang world and the Pinto world.
Guess the ride height is something I will just have to live with it for now, I have to keep the car drivable.
Is there a recommended place to buy replacement spings? I would end up jut replacing the whole leafs.
Russ
speedway motors of lincoln nebraska has "mini stock" springs for sedans and hatchbacks. 47 inches long, available in 100 pound rate (917-42450sp), 125 pound (917-42452sp), and 150 pound (917-42454sp) $99.95 each.

Hey Russ!! You wouldn't happen to be talking about a certain copper colored 79 auto would you??
How about rear wagon springs?
I dont think speedway carries wagon springs.
