Well, after being gone for three weeks, I was able to tinker with the white Squire wagon ( White Stallion" ) that I picked up a few weeks ago and it LIVES!! I took a screwdriver and hammer to get the locking gas cap off, dumped a gallon or so of fuel in the tank. I had ran the battery dead before I left so I put that on a charger for an hour or so. I poured a little gas in the carb and she fired right up. It ran a little rough at first but still, I was HAPPY!!! I was told that the brakes were shot and I found out why after I filled it up and then pumped them a couple of times. The back lines are toast. It still stops but not enough to make it safe.
I played around with the car for a little while and decided to take it aound the block for a short drive. This little car has some guts. I floored it a couple of times and it took off like a bat out of he**. Not a good think with almost no brakes ;D. It shifted ok and the trans fluid is nice and red so that is a good thing.
When I first started it up it was smoking a little bit but that eventually cleared up.
Now I am not so sure we are going to rat rod it. I am picking up a set of cruisin wagon panels next week but I am not 100% convinced that I want to convert it over. I think with a little (LOT) of body work and paint, it would be a nice little runner. The main things will be brakes, tires, floor pan and wipers as well as getting the turn signal lights fixed :hypno:.
Either way, it was a GREAT morning. Even though the guy I bought it from told me it ran good and was a driver, I still had a few doubts but those are gone. Now to get working on it before the snow flies again.

:fastcar: Sounds like a fun car. If its worth restoring go for it!
Good! That will put another one on the road. Those Cruising Wagons do not have great visibility out the back and you really have to rely on the mirrors but they sure look great.

Hello 78squirewagon ,
Sorry I missed you when you were in the area..
From Pintony
No big deal. I figured as long as I had my company van, i figured you would have a set of tires and well... ;D ;D ;D
I did stop in Hazelwood MO for about 10 minutes and I will give a prize (maybe) if anyone can tell me why a person who likes LARGE trucks would stop there ;D
Anyway, I just got back home from Gus's Drive In (next weekend is the mini-meet) and now i am even more confused as to what to do. A lot of people told me just to have fun with the white car but some would like to see it restored to a point. Also, all I had to do was pump the gas pedal a couple of times (after sitting all day) and she fired right up. Again, not the greatest but it still ran. Either way, I am going to enjoy this one because I will be putting sweat equity into it. I cant wait until the first snow fall so I can go slidding around :hypno:
Tuesday I am getting the cruisin wagon panels and I will see what I think. Plus I will get cookieboy's opinion next weekend and go from there.
Thanks
Mark
I picked up the panels and other goodies to make a cruisin wagon so it looks like I am going to make a "super rare" Squire Cruising Wagon ;D You know as soon as it's done that I am going to have a know it all tell his buddies that he had one new from the factory ;D
Anyway, I got the panels, porthole windows, trim and tailgate (along with a bunch of smaller parts) for 150.oo. If anyone needs a good taligate for a 77-78 wagon, let me know and i will let it go cheap (under 75.oo). That money will go back into the wagon so...
I will start taking pictures and get some posted.
