I am finishing up patching the rusted out front floorpans in my 71. the rear pans are actually pretty solid and straight, it was just the ront ones that were bad.
I see signs that the water was running down the insie of the firewall- surface rust on both sides and obvious water damage on the sound deadening around the steering column. My question is what are the commons sources of water leaks? I have heard heater core, wiper pivots, and cowl problems such as leaf buildup and water overflow into the fresh air vent and cowl rustout.
Does anyone sell reproduction wiper pivot seals? Are there drains for the cowl?
I plan on removing my dash to paint it so I want to deal with any leaks while everything is very accessible.
Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. I think the pass side pivot on my crusing wagon is leaking ever so slightly.
Wiper pivot gaskets can be made from a piece of leather, thats what there made from. Take out the old one, and trace it out .....it`s 1/8 inch thick leather thats brushed both sides ,not smooth.....
I Can lazer cut flat gaskets if the size is not too big...let me finish taking my daughters car appart and I'll see if I can get a shape and size...
