that was pretty cool. i used to race there too.  took out a couple of transmissions there (2nd gear gone) that was a real nice facility.  did you ever get a chance to get into the tower?

i got invited into the tower at a big funny car meet one year by a guynamed john barkley who ran a '57 chevy in the stock classes and managed Competition Specialties in anaheim.

i really liked irwindale though,  on a sunday morning/afternoon you could show up with $7.00 and race all day if your car would last.  some days it was ...make a run...cool down...make a run.. ALL day long.

there was a guy there at the time with a maverick / 302 that i used to race all the time when the car was N/A.  he never did eat me though there were a lot of real close ones!

a lot of really fun times and good memories at both of those tracks.  had a 1/2 day at irwindale with a couple of guys (forget their names) who were mechanics at huntington ford and had put together a pinto drag  car.

nothing fancy mind you but they had the car in the mid to low 12's at the time.  this was back in late '71 or early '72 i think  while the Pangra program was starting out.
