I want to change the after market radio (8 track!) to a radio / CD player. Does anyone have any advice on where to purchase one that looks good in a vintage 73 Pinto?

most of the new din decks look like a carnival midway on acid. The new alpines have the green chicklets for buttons and kinda look old school. I was just shopping stereos as the new mustang needed a replacement. JVC also has a very clean and simple looking single din that has a non motorized flip front to give access to the cd slot that is really decent

Go to Classic Auto Sound they still make the old school two shaft stereos that have in- puts for other things like CD's or satellite radio etc. Or go to a AutoZone and get a two shaft stereo with in input jack for about $65.00 or so.. I like mine because I can either use satellite or anything else. The downsides are that it's cheap but I do not have to cut the radio housing in order to make things fit. I have a wagon with two 6x9's in boxes and it can get loud. You can even add an amp etc. Just figure how much are you willing to pay and go from there. Cutting things up to put a single din head unit is just wrong. If you want modern AV etc. get a modern car..

I need modern audio in everything I drive. I like amps, subs & power. Whatever you choose just be sure the faceplate is removable to discourage thieves.

HeyPinto5.0 they just look like the old stock radios but they have all off the stuff you want. Check them out. And I do not think that anyone else would know what you have because it's not a DIN.

Take out your original radio and send it to retro radio restoration. www.retroradio .biz 717-367-1428.
They will rebuild you old radio to have 60 watts per channel, 4 speaker stereo, mp3 compatible and also rework the radio and dials to work better. New radio in the old box.
