Curt Pepple-friend and probably the biggest car guy I knew other than my dad

His mom called me today to tell me he had died from a heart attack last night. Totally unexpected. No family history or anything.

He was my best friend's slightly older brother.About 59 years old, give or take a few months. Ahead of us by 2 years in school. He is the guy who knew what all the cars in high school were running. He always was up to date on the current car news.

He lent my his 67 Plymouth GTX 440 to use on my high school prom date. He set me up with a date when my date backed out at the last minute. I got my first two tickets that night.

Retired Air Force. Lived the last 20 or more years in Nebraska. He was from North Dakota but grew up here in Phoenix.

I hadn't really kept in touch with him for many years other than hearing news about him from his mom and brother. I am so sorry I didn't. I always thought maybe tomorrow.

I will have to cruise Central Ave this weekend for him.

crap.

So sorry to hear of your loss, Russ.  I know how hard it is... in mid 2014 and early 2015, I lost three VERY dear friends over an eight month period.  I am just now really beginning to feel okay about it.  Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dwayne :)

Thanks guys.
Getting to that age where this is going to happen more and more.
I am not ready for that. I was supposed to be the one to go, not the one still here.
Russ
