Yipee.. TC in driveway
« on: February 03, 2008, 11:07:08 PM »
Here are a few shots of the newly arrived donor. Driving it back and forth to work getting it sorted out and ready to transplant and reading through lots of threads.

Man, am going to end up with a bunch big metal parts.  What do you guys do with all them old T birds ?  I figured if I failed to dig up a good solution I would throw the 2000cc motor in the trunk and call a wrecker.

I parted mine out.  Made back my initial investment and then some and got all my parts for free ;D .  I could have milked it for more but I bought my Tigger car around the same time and I needed to get rid of the Bird before I brought Tigger home.

Thanks for the tips, will try craigslist for the bird parts and see how it goes.  Am still combing over threads, measuring and reading up.  So far the turbo seems to run pretty good.  My plan is to get it in as good of running condition as possible then after pulling it out will probably tear it down and have a look inside. Am thinking I can ball hone and ring it, throw some fresh mains in and run it like it is. If I can afford it, will send the head out for service. Sure is cool when that little boost gauge goes up.

You might try and post parts on turboford.org.  There are lots of TC guys on there.

It's an 86 is decent shape, still has the skirts and wing, looks straight as far as I can tell. 95209 zip  TC guys might get a little testy knowing you are going to gut the thing for pinto lol.  I was bidding on a very nice 88 and carefully avoided tipping my hand as I was sure the guy would never sell to a pinto owner.
