ford assmb. plant in metuchen nj
« on: August 13, 2012, 02:06:53 PM »
Was at a 7-11 in NJ the other day,  Just across from the old ford plant.  ( now a vacant lot )  A few doors down is the UAW (still open )  A union rep came in and yelled out  " who owns 78 Bobcat " ?  Afrter talking to him , saying  how    i have a 75 Pinto  Runabout  and am working  restoring a wagon now.  It  turns out the Pinto and bobcats were all  made in the EDISON / METUCHEN Plant  . Along with the Mustang And Ranger , the plant opened in 1948 and closed in 2004 ( demolished 2005 )  I got to thinking ,  This would be a outrageous place to have a pinto meet    What  do you all think  will be willing to work in it

Just think about it a line of pintos going down US 1  ( oldest road in us, runs from MA to FL )   to the old ford plant .  I think the town would love it, went through hard times after plant closed.

I would be up a for a car show, but two drives in one year would be too much for me. It is a shame the plant isn't there anymore.
