What is the interior paint color?
« on: August 10, 2012, 11:02:38 PM »
I am restoring a 72 Pinto Wagon to original factory colors.  Build sheet says that exterior paint is 4P (Medium Green metallic/Scandia Green Metallic)so I am good on exterior and door jams.  Now, I need to repaint inside surfaces and dash repair cap etc. and cannot find a color guide to do this.  The build sheet talks of "TRIM" and gives a code DR, also an "Inst BD." with an R code.  I need to find the right colors to paint inside metal parts of the doors and the dash cap, other inside parts.  Can anyone give the the right colors for the inside of this car??  Thanks jt

HEY JOHN,   THE COLOR FOR THE INTERIOR IN PPG IS MEDIUM GREEN POLY AND HAS 2 MIX NUMBERS, ONE FOR SEMI GLOSS AND ONE FOR MATTE OR FLAT. THE NUMBERS ARE DIA44296 FOR S/G AND DIA44311 FOR FLAT. THESE NUMBERS ARE FROM THE 1972 COLOR CARD AND MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE TO YOU BECAUSE THEY ARE FORMULATED IN LACQUER ONLY. SOME AREAS OF THE U.S. YOU CAN STILL BUY IT. IF IT IS NOT AVAILABLE TO YOU, YOU CAN HAVE YOUR LOCAL PPG JOBBER CALL THE COLOR LIBRARY AND THEY WILL EITHER HAVE AN OFFSET FORMULA AVAILABLE OR THEY CAN TAKE THE STANDARD ON FILE AND IMAGE IT TO MAKE A NEW FORMULA FOR YOU IN INTERIOR BASECOAT. I RESTORE CARS AND WE HAVE TO DO THIS ALL THE TIME. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU OUT,  DAVE
