Title: V6 Aluminum Radiator
Post by: flash041 on March 27, 2019, 08:44:02 PM
I have been looking for a V6 radiator for some time. No body lists them any more. I thought a V8 Mustang II radiator would fit, but they are 4 inches wider. Searching Champion Cooling web site I discovered that the Maverick one listed was within 1/2 dimensions of mine.My old one is a factory 3 core from an A/C car. I ordered a 3 core Maverick one , part number CC329. The inlet and outlet are on the correct sides, but are 1 1/2, the original was 1 1/4. I paid an extra $60, and they put 1 1/4 inlet and outlet for me. it fit near perfectly! I just had to drill two bottom holes for the fan shroud. The other holes lined up with the factory mounting holes. The position of the trans fittings and bottom outlet are slightly different spots, but I connected it with no problems.

I'm sure this will be great information for others. Thanks for posting it. I'm curious about the Mustang II V-8 being 4" wider. I guess it is possible. My '73 came with a 17" radiator and I altered the cradle to fit the larger 20" radiator used in the '74 - up 2.3 cars.

Radiators thankfully are "adaptable."  The 17" radiator I took out of my Pinto I temporarily put in my Mazda 323.  I was about 6 weeks out from selling the car to the California "polluters" program and the radiator started to leak. The Pinto radiator "sort of" fit mostly held in place with bailing wire. Anyway, it worked long enough to get my $1,000 for a car with 192,000 miles that was on life support. I also have a 73 Valiant that even though a 318 V-8 car, had a minuscule radiator. With a few bolt holes drilled I was able to mount a much larger, mid-80's Dodge Diplomat radiator that was a huge upgrade in cooling.

I really enjoy alteration/fabrications and so thanks again for posting.
