Trying to Figure Out What Year My Pinto Was
« on: April 15, 2016, 09:34:51 PM »
 :o

I know my dad bought it used around 1974? and gave it to me in high school.  I have no records at all.
It was a basic yellow automatic.  No chrome trim on wheel wells or doors.  No side mirror on passenger side.
From brochures I have seen on ebay, I think its probably a 1971. Its the one year where I saw pics of the car
with no trim, etc.  Still looking for pics of the car that I may have taken during the 70's..

After all this time I would probably not remember everything to be exact but would like to be as close as possible
if one ever shows up down the road.

Thank you!

1971 and 1972 models are pretty much identical in appearance unless it was a Runabout.  If that's the case, the '71 had a small window in the liftgate and the '72 had a much larger window.  In 1973 the front bumper changed a bit.  By 1974, you had the much larger government mandated bumpers front and rear.  Very plain, unadorned Pintos were available throughout the model run.  Hope this helps!

thx. could have been a '72 then as the window was large.  I bought a operating manual, a fold out kind for a '71. Everything looked the same so I think I can live with that.
Will focus on 1972 for now.

Appreciate it!

73 also had illumination on heater on wiper controls.  71 72 you just had to feel around.
